Favourite Meet: It used to be caving in Greece and all over the UK 50 years ago! Now I like walking with an element of challenge such as the Snowdonia Three Peaks
Favourite meet: weekends up at the club hut and the annual Alstonfield Walk (although I’ve never won a trophy!).
Favourite Meet: annual Easter climbing meet in Cornwall – the climbing is great and the Cornish pasties and scotch eggs even better – but always happy to nip off somewhere hot, like Spain, for a bit of bolt clipping.
Climbing Meet Secretary
Favourite Meet: The Gritstone Challenge; a long long midsummer day, with climbing on nine crags, and walking in-between. We hope for good weather, and no midges!
Favourite Meet: Sport climbing, via ferrata and scrambling in Ailefroide, France. Sunshine, camping, good food and lots for the relative novice. But also any club meets at Pant Ifan where you can climb one day, mountain bike the next and pop down a mine on the way home.
Caving Meet Secretary
Favourite Meet: Caving in Doolin, County Clare. Great caves, walking and pubs with live music.
Favourite Meet: The annual Alstonefield Walk – it allows me to enjoy a challenge in the outdoors as my flexibility to climb or cave has become restricted.
Vice Chair and Membership Secretary
Favourite Meet: A difficult question! Sicily was good and varied – with crags so close to the camp site AND lit up for extra sessions after 9 p.m. The Chartreuse (France) was superb too – (and select) with 6 attendees from different disciplines but all climbing and an average age of 74! Favourite Place? No contest! Kalymnos for me!

Favourite Meet: The Alstonefield Walk has my vote. True to say I may be showing favouritism as this event has been organised by my Dad for well over 40 years. From the camaraderie on the early morning coach trip, the anticipation of a challenging day ahead against winter elements, rounded off by the welcome warmth of an evening at the Bluebell Inn for socialising, sustenance and tall tales of derring-do!
Favourite Meet: My first lead climb on Amphitheatre Buttress with very little know-how. It took all day but the pint at the end of the day to celebrate made the ordeal worthwhile!
