Caving

Welcome to the caving section of the Cave and Crag Club.

We organise monthly caving and mine trips in Yorkshire, the Peak District, Wales and anywhere else we can get underground.

We are open to new suggestions and try to add new venues to our itinerary each year. Outside the calendared meets, there are more impromptu trips and opportunities to practise a bit of cave photography.

We have a caving meet secretary who oversees the programme of meets for the year and who coordinates the third party liability insurance run by the BCA and our membership of associate bodies. Other caving members are encouraged to take responsibility for booking access to specific caves and arranging accommodation for the meets that they are coordinating. We often use our fantastic club hut in North Wales as a base but are also lucky to have a reciprocal agreement with South Wales Caving Club hut in the Brecon Beacons.

What do I do if I am a novice caver?

We are a sociable and welcoming group. We organise a few trips each year which are specifically for novice cavers but we are happy to talk to you about other trips which may be accessible for those venturing underground for the first time.
